It really depends on several factors when determining how long it will take to refinish your hardwood floor. It typically is around 3-5 days but below are some factors.
- Most places can sand 1000 SF a day but if you have a large area (3000 SF) you may add up to 2 additional days.
- Each coat of polyurethane usually needs about 24 hours to dry and a stain could take at least 24 hours to dry depending on the shade. If it's a darker stain it will take 36 to 48 hours to dry.
- The weather is also a factor. If it is humid it will take longer for each coat to dry, the species of wood (maple will often take longer).
A good rule of thumb is 3-5 days but remember that it could take longer based on the factors listed above.
